High Country Workplace Technologies is proud to help expand a longstanding Jefferson County tradition that brings together patriotism, community service and support for local Scouting.
For more than 25 years, the Kiwanis Club of Golden has organized its American Flag Project throughout the Golden community. Participating families and businesses receive a full-size American flag displayed at the edge of their property on five national holidays:
- Memorial Day
- Flag Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Veterans Day
Scouts in uniform install and remove each flag with proper flag etiquette. What began as a small community project has become a familiar and meaningful display of patriotism throughout Golden.
Expanding the American Flag Project in 2027
For years, residents in other parts of Jefferson County have asked how they could participate. Beginning with the 2027 flag season, the project will expand into portions of west Arvada and unincorporated Jefferson County near North Table Mountain.
The Kiwanis Club of Golden is partnering with Troop 21/2176 to make the expansion possible. The troop’s participation provides the people and service capacity needed to establish new routes while preserving the Scout-led installation that has defined the program since 2001.
The Candlelight Valley HOA also played an important role in helping bring the project into this new service area.
HCWT Donates the First 100 Flags
High Country Workplace Technologies donated the funding needed to purchase the first 100 flags for the expanded program.
HCWT Managing Directors Bob and Jim Whitfield made the donation to help the Kiwanis Club of Golden and Troop 21/2176 establish the new routes and begin accepting subscribers outside the project’s traditional Golden service area.
“As a longtime Jefferson County and Arvada business, we are grateful for the opportunity to help bring this tradition to more of our neighbors,” said Jim Whitfield. “The flags create a powerful community display, but the real impact comes from supporting the Scouts and the service projects made possible through the program.”
The donation was presented to the Scouts and project representatives as preparations began for the 2027 expansion.
More Than a Display of American Flags
Each subscription includes a sturdy ground receptacle and a full-size American flag mounted on a 10-foot pole. Scouts install the flags before each designated holiday and remove them afterward.
The visual result is impressive: streets and neighborhoods lined with American flags in recognition of the people, principles and sacrifices represented by each national holiday.
However, the impact extends beyond the flags themselves. Subscription proceeds help Kiwanis and its Scout partners support service activities benefiting children, families and the broader community. The program also gives Scouts practical opportunities to develop responsibility, teamwork and a lasting commitment to community service.

Enrollment Is Now Open
Enrollment is now open for eligible neighborhoods in west Arvada and unincorporated Jefferson County near North Table Mountain.
Expansion capacity is limited, and subscriptions for the 2027 season will be accepted only until the new Scout service routes are full.
