Hi Country Wire and Telephone Ltd. was formed in 1984 by Robert Whitfield Sr. after the break-up of the old Bell Denver Phone Company. Mr. Whitfield had spent more than 30 years at Mountain Bell Telephone Co. (now Qwest) as a district manager in charge of installation and maintenance of business telephone systems and equipment. He left Mountain Bell in 1984 and capitalized on the service delivery gap created by the divestiture of the Bell system. It was later that year that Hi County Wire and Telephone Ltd. was formed to fill Colorado's telecommunications service void. Hi Country has continued to grow since then with a strong commitment to providing world-class customer service.
